Without having to analyze every single factor, we will concentrate on the following points in this blog, for each of these reasons we will be able to analyze further the loss of the USA in Afghanistan.
1. TALIBAN:
The militant groups fighting against the invader were incredibly effective against the American troops. The Taliban, who are Muslim, had a militant form; this created a balance between the two groups that was unfavorable for the former.
Having been determined by the radical movements in Afghanistan, the Taliban enforced their extremist ideas on the Afghan population. An education-free religion, only serving to benefit the Taliban and with no consideration for the needs of society became a boon for the Taliban forces. The Taliban's prerogative to control public opinion became central to their human terror, making very unlikely the possibility of bringing about rational politics.
Although the Taliban's rise brought up a lot of animosity between the northern Muslim nations and the south Asian ones (an odd group to compare two opposing groups), America never considered which country's actions would be more harmful to the United States of America.
2. ALLIES OF AFGHANISTAN:
This factor had a great effect on the war in Afghanistan as well. The war in Afghanistan was an act of revenge for the 9/11 attacks. Unlike Afghanistan, which had no civil war, the war in Afghanistan resulted in many sympathizers of the local population of Afghanistan becoming allied with the US forces. By trying to fight the war by all means that became possible (an idea that the US soldiers obeyed), the war-affected most Afghans (many were killed in the war). The United States supported the war against the Taliban, the extremist group behind the assassination of the German world-famous author, who lived in Afghanistan. The speed with which the war spread through the entire region brought the decision to carry the war to Afghanistan into inevitable results, forcing the Taliban from power.
The spread of the war to Afghanistan had a severe impact on the war against the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), which had an alliance with the Taliban. Another impact that the US had on the region was the war in Iraq which first began with the US occupation of Iraq.
Afghanistan and Iraq, and the Saudi-American-Jordan alliance in Iraq, required the terrorist organization ISIS to find a country to operate with. Because they supported the Taliban and that of Iraq, the United States became more rigid and tighter when it came to ISIS' power, particularly with the current goal of preventing them from breaking the army of Iraq and Syria.
3. VIET CONG AND AFGHAN RESISTANCE:
One of the important factors that contributed to the failure of the American strategy is the Viet Cong and the Afghan resistance, the latter had a huge number of volunteers who supported the Viet Cong. With this group as their main supporter, the Viet Cong rapidly advanced toward the central region of Afghanistan, never once giving the Viet Cong any chance to take control of the Afghan population. The resistance's most interesting aspect was that the leadership of the United States of America never considered whether or not to form a peaceful, tolerant and democratic type of government, which would have made the American soldiers share the lack of success of the South Vietnamese government. Those elements do not usually come together in a country like Afghanistan and led to a very bitter outcome of America's attempt.
4. THE TROOP PRESENCE:
Despite the impact of all the factors that contributed to the decline of the United States of America's presence in Afghanistan and Iraq, there is a third factor that completely prevented the gains made by the US forces. The ability of the US forces to maneuver and monitor and divide the Al Qaeda forces, whose precise location was the source of fear among the US military, was severely hampered.
Thanks to the Afghan region, the United States of America could also patrol these territories with full accuracy. The point is that a 50,000-120,000 strong force was in doubt whether the AQ capability could be slain in Afghanistan. America was not an intelligent army that could kill all its enemies with drones and stealth assets, the critical skills of the American military were not utilized properly and this made it extremely difficult for the fighting force.
5. THE NUMBER OF CASUALTIES:
As the US troops were advancing, they encountered a higher number of casualties. Because they were locating and acting on the "near-blind spot" of the intelligence, the bad guys took advantage of the situation, leaving the soldiers in the grey zone where they are forced to give precedence to the threats rather than to the goal of advancing. Thus the US forces suffered huge losses of soldiers and hands (e.g. 20-30 years of US soldiers).
There were several other factors that contributed to the failure of the US strategy in Afghanistan, but these are the main ones that need to be fully analyzed because without this they could never have succeeded at a much larger scale.
